Suspected problems in underground sewer lines can be confirmed by a non-destructive technique know as video line inspection. A specially designed camera system is fed down the sewer pipe to allow a visual inspection of the condition of the inside surfaces of the pipe. Video images are transmitted to the camera operator and can be saved on a DVD for a permanent record.

If a problem inside the pipe is detected, a radio transmitter identifies the depth and location of the affected area. This technique allows for a more cost effective repair if required.
